Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (Jncasr), Bangalore invites applications for admission to MS/PHD programmes in science and engineering from students who have qualified in NET-JRF/LS under CSIR/UGC fellowship schemes or DBT/ICMR-JRF or GATE/JEST/INSPIRE/any other equivalent national level examinations. It also invites applications for the integrated (Int.) PhD programme in material science, chemical science and biological science.

You need: For material science, applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree in engineering with an aptitude towards scientific research. They are expected to have a sound knowledge in the fundamentals of physics, chemistry and maths. For chemical science, applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree in any branch of science with chemistry as a major and maths as a subject at least up to PUC (10+2) level. For biological sciences, which is offered in two discipline (a) evolutionary and organismal biology, applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree in any branch of science/maths/statistics. Those with Bachelor’s degree in engineering with an aptitude towards scientific research will also be considered. (b) molecular biology and genetics: Bachelor’s degree in any branch of science.

For all the above Int PhD programmes, candidates should have a minimum of 55%marks at the Bachelor’s level. Those appearing for their final examinations this year can also apply

BS-MS Programme Admissions at IISER

Courses Offered:
5 year BS-MS dual degree with major in biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics.

Eligibility: Candidates satisfying at least one of the following three criteria may apply.

1. KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana) Science Stream: Students qualified in SA (2010) / SX (2011) / SB(2011) / SP (Passed 10 +2 in 2011 / 2012).

2. IIT-JEE 2012: Students Obtaining a minimum of 60% marks in class XII and securing a place in rank list.

3. Central & State Boards: Students qualifying in class XII in 2011 or 2012 in Science stream with either

a. Marks above cut-off percentage declared in DST website for the INSPIRE eligibility in www.inspire-dst.gov.in/inspire-advertisement.pdf. For OBC (non-creamy layer) a 5% relaxation on DST cut-off is admissible. The cut-off for SC / ST is 60% in class XII for all boards in 2012.

b. Advisory note for the eligibility in scholarship for higher education(SHE) under INSPIRE scheme.
